Heidelberg. A picturesque town on the banks of the Neckar, home to Germany’s oldest university. It is famous for its romantic castle ruins, an old town with one of the longest pedestrian streets in Europe, the “Witches’ Tower” from the medieval city wall, its many medieval and later churches, and the Old Bridge (Alte Brücke) over the river.

Colmar. A town in the Haut-Rhin, in the historic region of Alsace. Set on the Alsace Wine Route (Route des Vins), it is known as the “capital” of Alsatian wine. Colmar is rich in history and known for its museums, its churches (including St Martin’s Collegiate Church and the Dominican Church) and Little Venice, the quarter of traditional houses along the canals of the Lauch. The town also has a replica of the Statue of Liberty, as its sculptor, Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, was born here.
